NuMan Pro: Fertility Recommendations and Organic Waste Balance Components.

Patricia Steinhilber, Robert Hill, and Eugene Mironenko. University of Maryland, NRSL - 1112 H.J. Patterson, College Park, MD 20742

Nutrient Management for Maryland Professional Edition (NuMan Pro) is an integrated software program that permits comprehensive nutrient management planning. The program has fertility recommendations for over 220 cropping management combinations with over 300 fertility management notes available. Soil test and waste analysis data may be electronically imported. Crop phosphorus removal and waste transport planning have been incorporated into the program. A new waste balance component has been added that will allow users to determine if waste utilization for a particular waste material within the nutrient management plan is properly balanced with waste production and waste storage capacity. A waste generation component has been developed that estimates manure production for almost any animal operation. The program allows single or multiple waste packets to be applied to a single crop. Planning may be done for the most-likely cropping/waste combination (primary scenario) or supplementary combinations (secondary scenarios) on a single field.
