MICRODIST technology is an EPA approved method for the determination of total cyanide in waters and wastewaters however, the technology also can also be used to analyze soils, sludges, and plants. MICRODIST technology greatly simplifies the process of performing digestion/distillations when compared to macro distillation systems. MICRODIST uses disposable polypropylene tube assemblies (US Patents 5,022,967 and 5,304,287) to perform the digestions/distillations which eliminates the need for bulky, expensive, clumsy and time-consuming glassware-based distillation units. A MICRODIST system is a batch micro-distillation system that allows users to distill up to 21 samples simultaneously. In addition to cyanide digestions/distillions MICRODIST can perform analyses for sulfide, ammonia, phenolics and tritium. Cynanide, sulfide and ammonia distillations can be performed in 30 minutes whicle phenolic and tritium distillations are performed in 90 minutes. Data will be presented showing the use of MICRODIST for cyanide analysis in soils.
