Knowledge of the environmental impact and sustainability of degraded water (e.g., drainage, municipal, CAFO, industrial and food processing, urban runoff, and agricultural runoff) reuse is of critical importance. This paper addresses the current need for degraded water reuse, current regulatory framework and application practices, social and health concerns, current knowledge, and the general direction research should take to address issues that could restrict reuse of degraded waters as an alternative water resource.
