In August of 2006, the SSSA K-12 education website (https://www.soils.org/lessons/) was launched just in time for Earth Science Week. This website has since been reviewed and expanded by the SSSA K-12 Education Committee. It includes headings for Lessons and Activities posted directly, Resources with links to on-line educational materials, Definitions, and Links to professional organizations. One of the first additions by the SSSA K-12 website subcommittee was the development of a subject by grade level matrix with links to high quality soil science educational resources for each combination category. Work is under way refining the lessons and activities that are posted and adding a young scientists' soils glossary. Plans for the future include soliciting original K-12 soil science lessons and activities for peer review and posting with credit to authors.
