Screening of Early Maturing Winter Canola Lines for Resistance to Blackleg Disease.

Rufina Ward, Leopold Nyochembeng, and Ernst Cebert. Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences, Alabama A&M University, 4900 Meridian Street, Normal, AL 35762

Several early maturing lines of winter canola (Brassica napus L.) developed at Alabama A&M University were evaluated under controlled environment for resistance (or susceptibility) to several isolates of Leptosphaeria maculans. Susceptible and resistant canola cultivars were used as standards for comparisons. Canola seeds were germinated in Promix soil contained in covered flats inside a growth chamber. Seedlings at cotyledonary stage were used in the evaluation.
