Increased land-use has contributed to dramatic increments in Phosphorus loading of nutrient sensitive areas such as the dairy producing region of Lake Okeechobee in South Florida. Environmental clean-up strategies to reduce P-loading include the use of pasture plants because of their high efficiency in biomass production. A field study was implemented to study the P-remediation capacity of warm-season forages. Pastures planted to warm-season grasses (bahiagrass, limpograss, and stargrass) under three N (67, 90, and 134 kg ha-1) and five P (11, 22, 45, and 90 kg ha-1) fertilization rates were evaluated. This paper reports the interaction of N and P-fertilization on P uptake and production by the forages.
