Soil Water Repellency and Soil Water Content in Temperate Forest.

Masako Kajiura, Graduate School of Agricultural and Life Sciences, The University of Tokyo, 1-1-1, Yayoi, Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo, Japan

We dont't know much about the occurenece and the cause of soil water repellency in temperate forest. In Japan, the precipitation and soil water content are changing seasonally, which makes the areas of water repellent soil larger or smaller. We researched the occurenece and the cause of soil water repellency at seven points in a slope in Japanese temerate forest, and investigated the relationship between soil water content and the occurenecy of water repellent soil. And also we researched whether litter layer in forest play an important role to preserve soil water repellency.
