The Vehicle Environmental Impact Monitoring and Tracking System (VEIMTS) is a multi-objective low cost system that consists of a Global Positioning System (GPS), low cost micro electro mechanical sensors, satellite communications capability, on-board data storage, and data visualization software. System components measure vehicle location and dynamic properties. Vehicle properties and location information are used with statistical impact models to spatially predict the cumulative impact of training exercises. The VEIMTS support reducing the lifecycle costs associated with fielding vehicle systems by providing automated vehicle impact analysis and monitoring capabilities and improved data for US Army training and operations. VDMTS meets both the U.S. Army training and testing communities' requirements, while providing the flexibility to adapt to future civilian and military security challenges.
