Mid-South Perspective on Biofuel Demand - Going from Cotton to Corn.

Joe K. Townsend, Crop Consultant, Lula, MS 38617

This presentation will be on the consequences for farmers and their advisers of the shift to increased corn acreage in the Mid-South.  There are implications for the agribusiness infrastructure (storage, marketing, transportation). Equipment, seed, fertilizer, and pesticides will be changed.  Some of these are significant shifts that will be set for several years because of the commitment of resources required. This presents new challenges for farmers and those who advise them and supply their input needs.
