Industrial hemp is grown in Canada and can be marketed for seed, fibre or both. Nutrient removal amounts will vary by the components harvested. Earlier studies have shown whole plant removal of 118-219 kg N/ha, 20-29 kg P/ha and 93-185 kg K/ha depending on fertility regime. The portion of nutrient contained in the seed was 49-53% of the nitrogen, 74-80% of the phosphorus and 10-13% of the potassium. Current studies will track nutrient uptake through the season and nutrient partitioning into stalk, leaf and seed.
