Impact of Stubble Height and Plant Population on High Plans Dryland Corn Production.

Lucas A. Haag, Department of Agronomy, K-State Research & Extension, 3019 Throckmorton Plant Science Center, Manhattan, KS 66506 and Scott Staggenborg, Kansas State University - Plant Pathology, Kansas State Univ., 3709 Throckmorton Hall, Manhattan, KS 66506.

Four corn seeding rates, 12, 15, 18, and 21k /acre, and two hybrids, 95 and 108 day maturities, were tested across three stubble height treatments, 28, 10, and 4 inches. The test was conducted at 3 locations in 2006 and 3 locations in 2007. Stubble height impacts optimal plant populations for High Plains dryland corn production under some conditions.
