Kansas State University research has shown that Subsurface Drip Irrigation (SDI) is a feasible technology for applying water to field crops like corn. The acreage using SDI method of irrigation is steadily increasing and being used for other crops like cotton, sorghum, soybeans, and alfalfa. A recent survey of the producers indicated that most of the producers were either satisfied or very satisfied with their systems. Producers responding to the survey indicated willingness for an in-field evaluation of their irrigation systems. Several systems were selected on the basis of their operational age and aquifer location. A few systems have been evaluated and few more are underway. Results will be presented.
