Plant Growth Response to Seeding Rate in Soybean.

Well and uniform stand establishment is one of key factors for high yielding in soybean and seeding rate is the most easily managed yield component for maximizing soybean performance. Insects, soil condition and rain can negatively impact early stand establishment. What is the minimum stand necessary to achieve high yields and what is the recommended seeding rate for a new variety or a transgenic are critical agronomic questions. Thus, how plant growth and physiological traits respond to seeding rate is still worthy to study. Monsanto company has tested thousands of transgenes in the field and has made tremendous efforts to identify high yielding genes to maximize farmer’s benefits. Along with this testing, we also did tremendous amount of crop physiology studies. Seeding rate experiment was one of them. Five seeding rates were used to investigate the plant growth response and physiological response to seeding rate in soybean. Data will be available in early October.
