Since its orgins in 1907,agronomic education and student activities have been essential components of the ACS. For example, in the midst of WW I, in his presidencial address in 1917, Dr. Jardine highlighted the need for well trained agronomists to help solve the challenges in crop production and soil/land management. This presentation summarizes the development and evolution of resident instruction, involvement of students, student contests, and other activities where the now-ACS has provided leadership. The poster represents a summary of one of several invitational papers for the centennial year of the Society.
