The aims of this research were to: i) evaluate the performance under irrigation and water deficit of three-drought tolerant and three-drought susceptible maize inbred lines and ii) identify morphological and physiological variables that differentiate drought-tolerant from drought-susceptible lines. Line evaluation was carried out under a Randomized Complete Block Design with three replications. Results indicated that the anthesis-silking interval and grain yield variables showed a differential performance under irrigation and water deficit.
